Now thats a huge colony of Red Hornets! So when are you fragging :D

Yah they grow really fast for me. I actually fragged off 2 polyps and sold the colony about 4 months ago. I'm back up to about 25 polyps now :D

Sick set up! I have the very same brs dual chamber reactor and use the mj1200 that came with it when I bought it many moons ago. What do you have yours tied in to? Return pump or the down flow? Can't quite tell

Thanks!! Yah i have it tied to the return pump and using the ball valve it came with to adjust the flow. The one complaint I have about the BRS reactors is how it mounts. The weight of the canisters when they are full causes it to slant a little bit because the mounting bracket it just plastic, which effects how it tumbles the media. I eventually got it fixed and straight, but man it was a pain in the rear. Other than that they do a great job and are super easy to clean.

Thanks! I won an AI Sol thru a SLS and AI giveaway on Facebook and I just got the light today!! So excited to get it running. I ordered the controller today, so once I receive that I'm going to replace the lumen bright pendant. I only run my light 6 hours a day due to how bright it is, so now i'm going to get to see my livestock all day long!! I'm pretty darn excited if you can't tell!!!!

Thanks, i got the light friday just waiting for the controller to show up then i will mount it. I need to take some PAR readings too before I switch so I know how slow to acclimate the corals to the new light. Should have pics later this week :D

I ended up winning the SLS contest on facebook and they sent me a brand new AI SOL!!!!! I finally got the controller and got things setup over the weekend. I did some tests with the PAR meter to compare the MH to the new LED. I tested the LED at 75% and the numbers are pretty close at that power right below the light, but as you go away towards the walls of the tank the LED doesn't have the spread that my lumen bright pendant did. But thats ok, I think my corals on the sand were getting too much light anyway, even though they had acclimated to it. The biggest plus is that I have the AI Sol set to come on and start ramping up at 8am and it ramps down at 9:30pm then runs just the royal blues at 1% as a moonlight. Now I can see my tank at any point during the day, whereas before I only ran my MH from 2pm till 8pm.

So here are some pics. I'm currently running this schedule

8:00 | W:1% BL:5% RY:5% | ramp 30min | lunar cycle off
9:00 | W:10% BL:20% RY:20% | ramp 59min | lunar cycle off
11:00 | W:20% BL:30% RY:30% | ramp 59min | lunar cycle off
1:00 | W:40% BL:60% RY:60% | ramp 59min | lunar cycle off
3:00 | W:30% BL:40% RY:40% | ramp 59min | lunar cycle off
5:00 | W:20% BL:30% RY:30% | ramp 59min | lunar cycle off
8:00 | W:10% BL:20% RY:20% | ramp 30min | lunar cycle off
9:30 | W:0% BL:0% RY:1% | ramp 30min | lunar cycle off

Here are the PAR readings I got with both lights. Keep in mind the LED was only at 75% and is not mounted ideally. Its diagonal across the tank, I'm not sure how I can get it mounted parallel but I'm still experimenting.

These are the readings with the MH

Its been just over a month now with my AI Sol. I just increased the output to 35/45/45 from 12-3pm. All my zoas have been kind of reaching for light, while my SPS seem to be getting too much. I am thinking of swapping out the 40 degree optics for 70s. Anyway, here are some pics I snapped

Updates :)

My SPS seem to be adjusting to the LED pretty nicely, but I still am not getting enough light down to the sandbed where a lot of my zoas are located. As a result i have had to move some of them. I hope that when I move everything to my next tank that I am working on I will be able to get enough light to all corals no matter where they are located. We shall see.

Anyway on to the pics. These are all taken with my cell phone, as it is just so much easier to snap and upload them. The quality is just slightly below my camera so...
