120 gallon with a 55 gallon sump. Instant Ocean reef crystals. WC is 20 gallons every two weeks. Tank is 20 months old.
I just did a water change on Thursday. Friday and Saturday were crazy so I didn't get a chance to do tests until today. Today my Alk is at 5.6. It went down from 9.8 to 7.8 in two weeks I think because I stopped dosing 2 part. My calcium and magnesium have always been really high and I wanted to lower them. They have not gone down. Calcium is still 480 and Magnesium is still 1520. Those numbers never budge. I started dosing just the Alk of the 2 part and it held at 7.8 for a week but then I got really busy and forgot to do it for a few days. All of these tests are done with Red Sea test kit.
Everything in the tank looks fine. Corals are open and growing and fish seem happy and healthy. I do have a diatom issue on the sand but I don't have a goby so I thought it would just look like that. I do lightly vacuum it with the water changes but it comes back the next day.
My ph is 8. It was 7.8 until I vented the tank and sump by opening windows and putting a fan in the basement window. That helped raise it. PO4 is .03 and NO3 is 2ppm. Done with Salifert test kits. Salinity is 35 ppt.
I have an ATO.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
