My clownfish died not sure what i did wrong ?

Just came home this afternoon fish here doing well fed this morning got back and black oscellaris was face down in the sand not moving. Tried to move around to see if was just lethargic or something but removed with net and he was a goner. Not too sure why though. Parameters are as follows :
Salinity- 1.025
Ph- 8.0
Nitrite- 0.0
Ammonia- 0.25
Calcium- 540

How long has the fish been in the tank? What size of tank? What other fish are in the tank? The clowns tail looks a bit chewed up.

Post mortem pics usually don’t tell much, but the fin damage indicates aggression to me (unless the cuc got there before you did). Is there another clown in the tank?

Thanks for all the replies. The tank is coming up on just shy of a year being up. Currently the only other inhabitants are a standard clown which is smaller so would have assumed there'd be no aggression between the two if so. Then a yellow watchman goby. The tank does contain a decent cuc such as nassarius snails, plenty of blue legs , a few emeralds , 3 small zebra turbos and cerith snails, so could be culprit of fin damage. Clowns have both been in tank 8months plus not sure if sudden aggression came into play or even is a thing.

Also clown that died was only slighty aggressive towards my fingers while in tank no other fish i could tell.

Sometimes you've done nothing wrong and fish just die. How big is your tank?

I ask mostly just to rule out possibilities. Two clowns and a YWG are not a terribly heavy bioload, and those fish usually don't bother each other. Clown on clown aggression is a possibility, but normally you would expect the bigger clown to win in that situation.

It could be a feeding issue (what's your feeding schedule like?). It could be that the clown ate something it shouldn't have. It could be something electrical in the tank, could be a secret hitchhiker mantis, it could have just been old or sick.

You’re showing a lethal level of ammonia in your tank.

.25ppm is lethal .025 is not

Did something die in your tank? Sounds like you spiked a mini cycle- I would argue the ammonia was present before you removed the clown. Sorry for your loss- I hate losing fish

Were you dosing anything and any recent additions. How long have you had your clown and it would help if you posted a shot of your Tank. I would suspect a pathogen or low O2.
