The Trident reagents, as we all are aware, can be hard to come by at times and can be a little pricey. Based on those two factors, I decided to give ABC reagents a shot and see how they measured up in the Trident. Since I only test twice daily, I figured, why not? Here's what I found.
I tested tank water with hanna checkers and used the results as the baseline to Calibrate the Trident with the ABC reagents. Alk measured 8.4 which is about what the regular Trident reagents measured. Calcium and Mag were also within normal limits and correlated with Trident reagents.
After calibrating the ABC reagents based on these results, my first test showed my alk at 12 plus. I retested with hanna, still in the mid 8's.
So, to summarize, the ABC reagents, at least the alk, for me is testing high, but is definitely consistent. If you're ok with that then these reagents would suite you fine. All I'm looking for is consistency with the Trident since I use a CaRx for alk anyway. I understand others may get carried results, this was just my experience with the reagents.
Hope this helps.
