ugh I'm not asking about how to lower nitrates! I believe I know how to do that and I'm on my way! I want to know whether or not cutting lights out a few days will help the algae currently on corals. The rock isn't leaching nitrates were 0 in my last tank, this tank was over fed for a few weeks while i was out of town, I'm on the up swing now. Just the "new" tank process going on as well, sand is becoming live again.

Imo lights out will stress the corals even more. Manually remove the gha to stop it from stressing the coral.
