as we speak I’m bringing home my first sps coral, which is a montipora. It feels like graduating to a higher tier of reefing. Although I have to say I’m both nervous and excited. I know the basic care, but do you have any important/secret tips or tricks on keeping encrusting montipora? I tested the tank and it’s definitely ready.

Keep nutrients stable. Nitrate around 5-10 and phosphates around .03 ish.

If either of those numbers is zero you will not have a healthy coral.
