I recently made my first purchase from Unique Corals after looking on their page for a few years now. I purchased the items around Christmas and had them shipped out on 1/5/15.

My first order was almost ruined as Fedex missed on their timing to get the package to the local facility and out with the delivery driver for the day. So it was stuck at their facility still sitting inside the shipping containers with no update as to when it would arrive. I called Fedex after work (6 hours after it should have been delivered) and they said the package was not available for pickup as they might not even unload the container that it was in until the next day.

Instead of waiting I decided to drive up to the facility and at least try to get my package. I was thinking the corals wouldn't make it until the next day as the temperatures were barely making it to double digits during the day. So I gave it a shot. After waiting a little while for them to see what was going on in the back they actually came out with the box and I was able to take it home. I am glad I took the chance in going up there. When I opened the box the water looked clear but was a little cool. It seems that it might of had a rough Fedex trip as there were quite a few pieces of coral tissue floating around in some of the bags. I acclimated everything and set them all in low light and low flow areas for the next day or two.

Overall Unique Corals customer service is good and they pack their corals with care. Corals were at least triple bagged and the container had 3 heat packs on the lid (which definitely helped considering the temperatures and the delay).

I will definitely be buying from them again in the future. Very Pleased!

Here are pictures I took today of the pieces I got from them.

Glad to hear that the corals arrived okay after a trip in the cold weather! As you know, we're almost fanatically paranoid about shipping this time of year, and we try to look for the best possible window...Even then, stuff goes wrong despite the best of intentions, so happy endings like this make us feel good. We have found that corals will typically recover more readily from being cold during shipping than hot, but that is, of course, situation specific. Euphyllia can be touchy, even in cooler water, so we're happy that they made it to you okay...even wit ha little Fed Ex drama included! I still think that holding at a Fed Ex facility during the winter may be preferable in many cases to being driven about on a cold truck, even with Priority Overnight. Regardless, it's not a perfect science, but we do our best to assure healthy outcomes, and we're certainly glad you are enjoying your corals!

When the order was shipped I tracked it on Fedex and then changed the delivery options to hold at a facility I was going to pass after work, but they never made it that far lol.

Most of the items are looking great now, but the gold torch seemed to have had some tissue recede away from around the stalk during shipping. Hoping that it doesnt go any further.

Keep us posted...They can be a bit touchy...Remember, we've got your back if it doesn't make it!

The micro hammers expand to 1"-1.5". The closed skeleton might be the size of a zoanthid. They are really cool pieces!
