Hi fellow Reefers! So I have some updates and some pics to share. So as you all know we all have our tanks go through ups and downs on occasion. Well for the last month or so I had one problem after another that popped up. First I had several long time fish die mysteriously, no disease or issues visible. Than I had a Cyanobacteria out break, cleared that up with Chemiclean and large water changes, then a hair algae issue. My tank has been up for several years, but some times and luckily not that often, when it rains it pours! LOL!

Good news is things are about back to normal now! I did add a UV sterilizer a couple of weeks ago, and I really like it. It is the new Innovative Marine Aquashield, and it fits in place of one of my filter socs in the back chamber. It is gravity fed so no pump required. The water flows through the grate onto a filter sponge that is on top of the UV sterilizer. So far I love it!

I also added a digital thermometer that you plug your heater in to. You set the temp for the heater on the unit, like I set mine to 78 degrees, when the temp drops below 77.9 it kicks on the heater. Also it has a really loud alarm so I set it to go off if my temp gets to 80 or 76.

Here are some pictures I took today! [emoji16]

Looks like it is recovering nicely! I use a temperature controller as well and am very happy with it. I have had thermostats fail. It is nice having that extra layer of safety and a quality temperature probe.

Thanks! I think Acans are my favorite. I have better luck with buying colonies than frags for some reason. LOL! I just wish they weren't so expensive! I feed mine Mysis once a week, and add some phyto every night to the whole tank. I grow my own phytoplankton. Gotta save money somewhere! [emoji6]

Thanks! Yea when stuff goes wrong it can be so frustrating! But when you get everything turned around.....that is the best feeling!

Absolutely! I got this one for the same reason....and also those cheap thermometers were never accurate too on top of it. [emoji3]
