Well since Iv found this forum pretty friendly and useful immediately, i figured it was about time to get up to speed on my Biocube29 setup ^.^
Where to start... in the beginning...
Iv been lucky enough to snag a job cleaning and helping out at a my local saltwater fish and coral distributor, and i couldnt be more thirlled about it. Anyway a man came in and posted a tank for sale on the bullitan board. Couple days later i decided to go ahead and pick it up. $90 if i went and got it for the guys house.. DEALS!!!
picked up the tank, got it home and looked at all the extras i got with it..
-Oceanic biocube 29 $$$
-Stand with glass front doors $
-Nanocustoms led kit 12 white and 6 blue 3w LEDs $$
-a "Duo700"two channel runnable controllable driver . $
-3 return pumps one was NIB
-sapphire aquatics skimmer
-uninterruptible power supply $
-several timers and chords.
-heater
-3 5 gal. jugs for holding/transporting water
-big sheet of filter floss
- 2x half units of CPe and one reg chemipure
- nets, scrapers, test kits, hydrometer, reefkeeping for dummy's book(lol), bioballs
-and several random ornaments I won't use.
i was blown away..
im still blown away lol almost as good as the deal on my rsm130 but thats another thread for another day.. So after getting the tank home it was time for a cleaning, and boy did it need it lol. The display side wasnt bad jsut a couple coraline spots you can see in the pic. The back chambers on the other hand where full of detritus as well as tube worm skeles EVERYWHERE
After soaking the tank in vinegar for 24rs...
the coraline scraped off like its a just a film, but the tubyworms where still a little tricky mostly because they where in the rear chambers. After several fill/drain cycles....
it was lookin pretty good
In my rsm i have the intank media basket and skimmer cup for the tunze 9002 skimmer so i knew i wanted it for the bc29. after a successfull frag swap working for my boss i was able to get the kit! It took me some messing with to get it all to function correctly in the bc. Water level being my issue i contacted stevieT and he helped me out promptly and professionally. Thanks Steve.
anywaysssss the tank has been up and running for the past week and the tunze has pulled a good deal of creamy tea colored skimate.
seeded the BC from the rsm with a carbon bag and also some sand and couple rocks.
Couple days later after a good wc i added some LR/LS,
followed couple days later by a few frags to start it off. A purple PE zoa, watermelon zoa, and a duncan frag ill probably take out later. I plan on this being a zoa dominant tank with a couple other high end frags thrown in as light, space, compatablity allow
not my PR but its a pic i took of the mother colony at work
For fishes im unsure of every fish choice but i know i want a pair of black snowflake clowns. mmmm
what are your dream fish that might be suitable tankmates for a clown pair in a nano?
thanks for looking ill try to update often!
