I have an Evergrow it2060 over my 40 breeder, and it seems like its a bit too purple looking. I would rather the tank be a bit more blue, how can I add more of a blue look? If I turn the white channel down to like 5% and the blue channel to 40% this gives a color Im almost looking for, but I wonder if running the white channel so low would cause any kind of negative impact? I dont have any corals yet, but I plan to just do softies, leathers, and zoas.

It will be fine. I run my whites at only a fraction of my blues or sometimes not at all.

Hello and good morning. I also have a 40 breeder. I use the viparspectra 300w and t5ho combo. Before I had the t5 I ran my viparspectra at 40 blue and 5 white. Ime as long as there is enough white for a few hours per day then your coral will grow and be happy. Since I have added my t5ho I run my viparspectra at 30 blue and 0 white. I allow my t5ho to be the full spectrum. As for lighting schedule I run blues from 12pm until 9pm. I run my t5ho from 4pm until 8pm. Just to reiterate I ran just the viparspectra for a year at 40 blue and 5 white and had great growth and coloration. If I ran the whites too much higher I would grow algae. In the end I ended up putting electrical tape over the red and green leds to cut back on algae growth. Hope this helps!
