My new anemone.

I have to start by saying I love me wife to death but sometimes I don't understand her. She likes the reef tank but never wants to help clean or maintain it. I start by saying this because I came home from work today and she had bought an anemone of some kind I think it's a bubble tip. But I'm more worried about the mouth of it being opened. I'm not sure if it was open when she bought it but it has been open the entire time it's been in the tank. What do you guys think.

Best I can tell from the pic is that it is a Seabae Anemone. Hopefully, it is adjusting.

I'd keep an eye on the mouth for sure. And for some reason, some tend to think the whites do not do as well as tan or other coloration?

There's no such thing as a white sebae. It's bleached and if taken care of properly, it will color back up in a couple of months.

Exactly my point I should have mentioned it, so thanks for bringing that up... I have seen some healthy off-white (light tan mixed in), not stark white without the care they generally do not do well.

Little up date on the anemone. It still won't eat and it rolled over and I saw this.

My clowns have started to host it. I really hope it pulls though

It seems to have moved to a place that it is comfortable. And I think that the clowns hosting it can only help.

IME with the mouth agape this long the clowns may not be helping matters and I have separated some for a few days and the anemone recovered a little quicker...Might have been a bit lucky, but it certainly didn' hurt.

EDIT: I based my comment on a pair of Maroons which love one to death and had to get a hardier one used to all the lovin'. :eek:

It moved so that's not a problem my clowns don't long to move out of the corner

Hasn't seemed to change. But it's hard to tell. It's foot it not in the sand bed

My wife just informed me that my fish are picking at the anemone. What should I do? I don't have a quarantine tank

Sorry but kinda wondered which is why yesterday at 3:56 PM I suggested to:

'If possible I might try to keep the clowns out of it for a little while.'

You can make flow through a protective barrier in about 5 minutes as I've shown before to cover you anemone to allow healing...let me see if I can find that thread from quite sometime back...If not, I will construct one and post what it looks like.
