So I received my Icecap 1k Gyre from BrianReefer today. And I must say I am very impressed with it. At present I have it set for random with a Max of 70% now. But I will be setting the auto feature for different flow patterns throughout the day/night. One feature lacking with Jebao.

Well it's been awhile since my last update on my 40B...so here is the current run down..... everything was transplanted to a 20L. Then I purchased 2 clowns, 2 chromis and 2 firefish as well as an orange tip BTA from Salty Bottom Reef Company. Love their service and prices...it's A++ in my book. But, with the new tax season approaching I figured I'd start by "upgrading" my setup. I have purchased an eshopps overflow, 2* prime AI mounts to get rid of the flex arm as they are more problematic having an autistic child whom loves watching the fish as well as putting his fingers into the tank. So the lights get moved around a lot....

The next purchases will be an eshopps r-100 sump, skims monster mini protein skimmer,IM mightjett midsize return pump, possible upgrade on the lighting to AI hydra 26's, 5g to container, various ReefAngel expansions.

Once everything is put back together I'll be getting LR from SBRC to cycle the tank again. Once it's done I'll be transferring the BTA and live stock back into the 40B. And start placing orders with AquaSD and the WWC coral club for 3-6mths.

Looking back at everything I knew I should have had the patience to do it right the first time. But being away from the hobby for almost 3 yes and missing the beauty of my 29BC I just wanted to get back into it with the same setup that I left my Ex in Colorado with and her 40B is doing great...

An update on the build. Since I couldn't find anyone to purchase the setup when I was having life issues I decided to hang onto my Breeder build. So let's talk update.....since my last post I have added a 20l DIY sump with a kit from FujiCube and a Jebao DCP-3000 return pump. Currently running the pump at 10w. Am still using the HOB ReefOctopus skimmer on the back of the sump until I can upgrade to an insump skimmer. I am also planning on running a UV Sterilizer. Fuge isn't running yet with macro but is planned for next payday.....found 3cups for $20 on eBay...even saw someone selling Chaeto for $106 for 1/4cup.....lol. Now for some pics....

So I ended up doing some maintenance on the DT by removing nuisance algea from my rockwork til I get a seahare and I accidentally broke off a piece of my bubblegum Digi. It's a 1/4" tall right now.. so let's see how fast this grows out. I'll take weekly pics of it and hope we get good growth.

Parameters are:
9.0 dkh
455 calcium
1380 magnesium
Everything else is 0ppm

Looks great keep up the good work! I’ll be harvesting my Chaeto this weekend if you need some pm me a address and I’ll mail you some free. I know how personal life can kick you down. When my wife found out she had health issues and I thought I was going to lose her I had several people jump in to help me so I’ll pay it forward.

I've up'd my feedings to three times a day with homemade frozen food. My fish love it to death. But each piece is about 1/4" cube in size. I broadcast feed reef-roids once a week and Target feed two days later. Have just recently started adding 10ml phyto every other day.

Well it looks like I forgot to share my lighting profile....lol. I currently have my lights 10" AWS and I'm running the BRS AB+ schedule that includes respiration peaks n valleys. This is to simulate cloud cover as I don't think the storm mode does that. Would love to see AI include GPS local for sunrise/sunset times for real lighting schedules out on the reefs. But depending on the growth of my digi's I may lower the lights back down to 8" AWS at 1/4" per month increments.

Digi’s Are pretty forgiving when it comes to light in my experience. Good flow was the key to mine. Mine liked strong chaotic flow and medium to semi strong lighting.
