After finally getting my first 25G tank 2 years ago (which i had been planning and researching for literal years) it was time to redo the bottom floor of the house.

I decided to go as all in as i could, i put lines under the floor for AWC/rodi purposes and I planned on getting the largest tank i could fit in the house, this might sound impressive but it's a 40wx24dx22h

I ordered the tank from a well known European custom aquarium builder.
(trust me this becomes important later)
And with the bottom floor now under renovations the fun could begin!

The cabinet on the left will eventually house my quarantine system.

I also start on my aquascape, and i took my sweet time doing it.

The tank gets delivered and by September 25 2024 it's time to fill!

At this point life gets busy, i get married, go on honeymoon and then the Christmas season is upon us.

about 2 months after startup my phosphate bottom out suddenly and i have trouble getting it off 0.
This of course results in...

I start dosing silicates but see no diatoms to outcompete the SCA dino's.
going out on a limb i diy a uv sandbed sweeper and have amazing results!

about a month after diagnosis i am dino free and diatoms start showing up! victory!

So it's now the middle of January, the dinos are still gone and diatoms are also slowly receding.

I decide to give the tank a good cleaning (cleaning was not recommend when fighting dinos)
I also spend a day organizing my sump and start from there.

I notice a hazing on my front glass that i cant get rid of.

I start doing some research and learn about alkali glass corrosion and the tin side of glass.
So i decide to test my glass using the uv i used for sweeping my sand.

So apparently all my viewing panels appear to be tin side in.

I called the tank builder, he doesn't know about a tin side and this hasn't happened before.
I sent pictures a week ago and im still waiting for a reply.

So at the moment im pretty much in limbo with my tank.
I hope i can get it replaced ( which is gonna suck in its own right) cause the hazing is horrible to look at.

Love your aquascape! Can't wait to see what it looks like once it is full of coral!

So i just got the call from the tank manufacturer, and it should be replaced in the next couple of weeks.

I found a small foldable tub made for quarantining en medicating koi that holds the right amount of water.

I'm already getting nervous about the whole transfer.

So after a drawn out process i had my tank replaced.

Horrendous etching of the glass on all 3 sides
1000027837.jpg

So after 2 days of work the new tank is in.
They forgot to black out one side of the overflow, no problem they will be sending me a sticker set to close it off.

So i filled the thing, trusting this one-off mistake was fixed.

Last night i decided to get my uv out and check the tin sides.
So apparently i now not have 3 panels wrong way round, but 2.

I have been very patient and willing to work with with this company because everyone makes mistakes.
To me it's the solution that matters.

An email has been sent, their reply will decide if im getting my lawyer involved cause if they can't be arsed to spend 50€ on a uv glass checker im not gonna waste energy on working with "the premium european aquarium manufacturer"

This was supposed to be my dream tank but right now it's looking more like a nightmare.
