The 600i is absolutely insane. I LOVE this skimmer. Already pulling all sorts of nasty sludge out of the water. Minimal footprint, barely audible, easy to use. More pics to come!

Do you think a Clear Water external algae scrubber will fit above the sump? Or any other brand? What did you do with your ATO reservoir?

Been wayyyyy too long since an update. Short story: I tried to add too many high end corals before everything in the tank got stable and the biodiversity bloomed. Got an outbreak of Dinos that killled $1,000+ in coral and I learned my lesson.

The tank is doing great right now. Running a UV sterilizer to keep the Dinos at bay until everything gets established, but all the fish are doing well. As you can see, there are about two dozen various frags in the tank. Current livestock are:

Pair of black clowns
Kole Tang
Purple Tang
Lamarck Angel
Blue Throat Trigger

Hoping to get everything stable before adding any more expensive corals!

Been awhile since an update (again). I am having trouble keeping SPS alive and even some of LPS are showing signs of stress. I figured out that I had my lights on way too high. I was literally melting my LPS on the sandbed in 250+ PAR. Anyway, here are some pictures of the thriving torches in my tank and a FTS!

Way overdue for an update!

A lot has happened. I learned the hard way that introducing corals (especially SPS) too early is never a good idea. I’ve lost a lot of nice corals over the past year because I was impatient. I’ve now reached the point where I think everything is stable enough and there are enough nutrients in the tank to keep my corals happy.

Some pics of some acros below. I’ll post a FTS later along with some more info about routine and pests in battling lately!

You mentioned your lights were set too high. What settings were your lights initially set at and what are they set at now? Did you rent a PAR meter to determine the intensity?

I was running the BRS AB+ profile on two Hydra 52HD fixtures. The lights are about 18 inches off the water, hung horizontal to the tank. I toned it down significantly and adjusted the spectrum slightly. I currently run:

7am: ramp up
11am: 85/85/81/50/5/20/20
4pm: begin ramp down to 7pm setting
7pm: 20/20/25/15
10pm: ramp down again to zero
10:30: lights off until 7am next day

I use a Seneye Reef as a PAR meter. I'm getting about 300 to 500 near the top of the tank (acropora land) and 80 to 150 on the sandbed, depending on the spot. Stuff is finally growing at a pretty good pace. I'm consuming around 30mL of BRS liquid soda ash and 30mL or so of BRS liquid calcium per day.
