Hey everyone,
Recently acquired a 14 gallon bio cube, older one. Well I am going to drill the back glass and add a sump, with my skimmer in the stand. My question is which skimmer would be best for my situation? I have no experience with nano skimmers, only what I have seen on here. So anyone with more knowledge on this then me would like to give their opinion here is my short list.

Not in any particular order:

Reef octopus BH50
Hydor Slim Skim
Tunze Nano skimmer
bubble magnus nac3+

Anyone with these skimmers feel free to chime in on there performance.

get the reef octo BH50 i use it and love it. had it running on a 29 and 20 sump and pulled out all kinds of gunk regularly. I havent used any of the others but the reefocto. its built just like a high $ skimmer just a mini version. At one point i had it in a 10g sump and it fit!

I wouldn't run a skimmer. I think weekly water changes would do more than a skimmer on a 14G. I have a Tunze 9002 on an over stocked 20L with a 20L sump and it doesn't pull a ton of junk. I also have a Reef Octopus BH 100 on a 20L peacock/dwarf/nps tank that only pulls light brown skimate.

On such a small set up water changes are larger nutrient export than a skimmer if lightly stocked with fish and fed sparingly. I have a 20 long with 10 gallon sump and just do a daily 1 gallon water change. It takes less than a minute or two with cleanup. Much more stable and just generally better for nano reefs than having a skimmer, which can over strip a tank of nutrient IMO.

Tunze 9002. Not going to perform like a cone skimmer but it will pull some dark green tea and scum out. Water changes are always good. A skimmer will help or maybe give you some extra days till you can do a change.

Rehooked up my.bh 50 24 hrs this is what I got skimming light

Thanks guys. The biocube will have a pair of clowns and some zoas. Going to feed heavy, I like big fat fish! Looks like people are favoring the reef octopus as of now, lets get some more opinions on this though.
