Naso Displaying Lethargic Behavior

Good morning. I have a Naso that has been in my display tank for several months that started showing lethargic behavior. He is usually a super aggressive feeder but did not eat today when I fed this morning. Also has not touched the nori clip, and he is usually right on it when I put it in.

I did add another tang last week that started showing the same symptoms then developed symptoms I thought were flukes...head shaking, scratching. I removed him and placed in a quarantine tank with fresh saltwater and started a prazi treatment, but he died the following day. I have seen the naso yawning and darting a few times, but I also feel like his belly is a bit pinched looking.

I am a little leary of dosing PraziPro in the display as I have never done so. I've been dealing with a bit of GHA on the sandbed and am working hard to get it removed manually and lowering phosphates with GFO in a reactor a couple hours each day. No other fish are showing signs of any issues right now.

Dose Prazi at 85% of recommended dosage and add air via air stone. Is fish eating and breathing normal?

Seems to be breathing normally but did not eat today so far. Also much less active than normal, not picking at rockwork, etc.

Fish is not thin which is a good sign. I dont see any intimidation in the video

Right, agreed. He was somewhat a bully to the new tang which probably contributed to its death. Will likely observe today and see if he eats later or first thing tomorrow.

Should I be concerned with dosing Prazi to the display? LPS/SPS Corals and inverts both are it it.

I had to dose prazi three times in a row to rid my tank of flukes. I dosed once and then it was fine for about 2 weeks before I lost a fish when then they came back. I lost another fish that couldn’t handle the doses but it did save many others before it could wipe out the whole tank.

Did you delay the 2nd and 3rd doses and that resulted in the loss after 1st dose?

The tang is breathing a bit fast and looks like it has a bit of a pinched belly. I also saw it dart forward, which can be a sign of flukes, especially if combined with scratching. The other tang dying is suspicious - it might have brought flukes into your tank.

Prazipro can be dosed in a DT with invertebrates, but I prefer plain prazi powder. If you use Prazipro, you need to dose for the actual volume of the tank, and add aeration if the tank doesn't already have good aeration (not just circulation).

Thank you. I do have liquid Prazipro. Powder would take about a week to get here. I will put an airstone and take skimmer cup off and dose tonight.

@vetteguy53081 @Jay Hemdal just noticed the tang with what appears to be some type of white "filament" coming out of its mouth ocassionally. Hard to get video of it, but I think this one shows it very briefly at the end. Any ideas what that might be? Was getting ready to dose prazipro.
