Need a New heater, any suggestions?

Hey, my main heater for one of my fish tanks recently stopped working, and I’m running it on a backup, however, I want to get a new heater. I’ve been reading a bit about the best ones, and the jagers seem to be the best. I just wanted some opinions before I buy anything. Also, if you know of any good thermostats that aren’t Inkbird, that would be nice!

I'm going Finnex when my tank goes up. Titanium Body. If the plug in is a three-pronger, the Titanium Body Heater also acts as a grounding probe.

That’s funny, I was looking at the same heater, but unfortunately it’s a bit too much for my tank. Sorry for not specifying, but my tank that lost the heater is only 20g

I’ve been looking online, and have seen hygger heaters that seem the have some good reviews, but they’re also a bit cheap. just worried about if they’re a “what you pay for is what you get” kinda thing. Has anyone had experiences with it?

Innovative marine. Recently got two for my 5 gallon and 25 gallon lagoon. Fantastic heater. For the price its not bad considering the mounting equipment it comes with.

This thing holds steady. My ehiems would swing daily.

The Innovative Marine Helios is the best imo, it tightly controls temp and has a 5 year warranty. Mine has been in service without issue since 1/2021 which I think was around when they released them.

Jager is the best "cheap" one. I use them on various tanks, not super accurate, last awhile but every so often one goes bad or gets condensation in it. So far I have never had one get stuck on, but have had them die "off". I have accidently broken 2 since they are glass.

I have a finnex titanium on an apex that has been in use for a few years, seems to work well but probably only as good as the controller it is on.

The one heater I had get stuck on and start to cook a tank was a cobalt neo-therm and a different neo-therm started to smell plastic/burn. I do not recommend those.

This was the same for me, I had an ehiem, and the temperature was never steady

Oh, thanks for all the advice, if I can find one, the Finnex seems pretty good. If I can’t I’ll settle for hygger though. The Jager just hasn’t been working for me lately, so I’m trying to find something different

The Eheims are loooooog lol! If you are still considering one, double check the heater length and your sump space. But there are probably better options these days.

Omg, yes! The eheim barely fits in my heater compartment. It’s honestly been a bit annoying to deal with it though, so I think I’m going to find another brand. The hyger is seeming to be my best option, as it has a heater size I need, and it’ll come soon.

The Eheims get a lot of love here at R2R, but given their dimensions, and as others suggested above, I think you can do better elsewhere.

I bought a Hygger 300 watt in march for my tank. Found out yesterday that it had failed off. My tank water was down to 71 degrees. I now have the BRS titanium units on the way along with an inkbird
