need advice... 220g setup

hello,

first, let me state that i've had 4 different reef tanks, but never over 75g...

i just purchased a 220g 72x30x24 tank, stand, and canopy. it will be delivered next week.... i just want to set it up correctly. i have a fear of something being off, and a seam busting....

may i have some advice on....

1. leveling the stand? i live in a decent built 13yr old home and the tank is going on concrete with linoleum on ground floor... i know it's not perfectly level, but not inches off.... thoughts?

- did you all level your stands? if so, using what method?

2. should i place a pad / insulation between the tank and stand?

- did you place a pad between tank and stand? if so, what kind?

I use shims to level my stand and if glass i generally use a 1/2" piece of styrofoam from the hardware store under the tank. Acrylic i don't use any styro

I would use shims to level your stand. Personally I would use plastic/composite shims in case you spill water on the floor.

As for between the tank and stand a lot of companies use a foam or neoprene pad similar to this one by IM. Personally, I think neoprene looks better than rigid foam insulation but either will work.

it is a glass standard 220g with a rim... i went that route for the warranty after having a 145g custom tank's seams start to split! ugh...

-- the manufacturer and the dealer actually both recommended NOT shimming / leveling the stand?!?! they both stated that the floor being a little off (1/4" or less) would not matter...???

that's where i'm confused... i had always heard to shim the stand... the first customer service person i talked to stated to shim the corners... then their paperwork for the warranty and the next customer service person stated not to shim.... ???
