I would like to run GFO in my 20g sump (37G cube DT, total water volume ~50gallons). Need a relatively small footprint (4 inches square). Any suggestions? I was looking at:
1. Innovative Marine MiniMax pro (https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/auqa-gadget-desktop-minimax-pro-media-reactor-innovative-marine.html)
2. AquaMaxx Fr-s ()
3. AquaMaxx Sigma-2 in sump (https://www.marinedepot.com/aquamaxx-sigma-2-in-sump-media-reactor)

Anyone using any of these with GFO? Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Greg

I use a lifegard nano topflow in my Biocube and I really like it.

Aquamaxx Fr-SE is a great all purpose reactor with a very small footprint. I also had limited space so I decided on this one and couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the responses so far:
Montiman - the nano top flow looks very interesting. No issues with getting the right flow to tumble the GFO?

PhillyNanoReef62 - what pump and tubing are you using for the FR-SE?

There is not much adjustment on the Nano top flow. I use it for Biopellets and haven't had many issues. I think you would be fine with GFO.

I switched my filtration to the Aquaforest stacked ZeoMix/Carbon/PhosphateMinus so I had to use a Sicce Syncra 1.0.

When I got the full set from Marine Depot and the pump that came with it worked really well for just GFO. It was actually a little too strong and I had to add a ball valve to cut the flow down. I believe it came with this pump:

Eheim 1046 or 1048 depending on the flow you need. These pumps last nearly forever and you can always buy new impellers or shafts if necessary.

Do you run filter socks? I have had really good success just placing a fine media bag with GFO in the sock.

No it's not as efficient, I knead the bag once or twice a week to keep it from clumping but it has definitely lowered my phosphates more than I thought it would. I have 75g DT and sump.

Otherwise I like the lifegard or sigma-2, haven't used them but have considered them in the past.

I wonder is the AquaMaxx FR-SE would stand on its own in a sump, I think it will fall over, I do have one and for my application I find it a little frustrating, mostly because I have a IM Lagoon 25 EXT with a sump.
