I just recieved my shipment from salt waterfish.com I ordered 5 lyretail anthais off of them. At the time there was no option to select male or female. Welp. They sent me all 5 males and claiming since it didn’t specify they can send me whatever they want. What I am actually looking for is 1 the ware house is only a few hours from me and I could return them if needed, and two why would a company do this. Here is the chat so far.

Hi I just recieved my order

I’m missing the mandarin goby, and for the Lyretail’s I ordered your warehouse sent me all 5 males. I’m not sure what i am supposed to do with these

Anna
Ok I see I am sorry about that, give me one moment to pull up your order. Thank you for your patience.

Ok thanks

Anna
All right I have your order pulled up, It looks like the green Mandarin goby did not pass the pre-shipment inspection so a refund was issued for this back to the payment method. Refunds usually take two to three days to process so you should see come through shortly. For the Anthias the sex was unspecified on the listing so either males or females could have been sent with the order. If a listing does not specify the sex or color then it can be either male or female sent out as per our policy.

That’s not acceptable. 5 lyretail anthias can not be in the same tank. Not to mention the amount of money I spent on these.
Anyone in this business should know better.
I need someone to call me right now.

Anna
If you would like I can have my manager reach out to you tomorrow once she is in to go over this. Unfortunately I cannot do anything at this moment as our policy states we are unable to take special requests such as size, sex, or color unless they are already specified in the listings.

That’s not acceptable. I have 5 lyre tail males that I can not put in my tank together. What am I supposed to do with these in the mean time
Some one needs to call me right now.
Tomorrow is unacceptable.

Anna
I can give some recommendations as to how to keep them in the meantime, but I am currently in chat with a few other customers at this time so I will be able to call once I am done with them. Right now I am the only customer service rep available as my manager has already left for the day.

This is not acceptable.

Anna
I understand you are upset and will call when I can. In the meantime I would recommend keeping the Anthias in buckets or Tupperware containers during acclimation. Or if you have any breeder boxes those would work as well.

They are still unopened in the bag. I am not setting up 5 separate buckets.

that's the craziest thing I have ever heard! Sorry that happened to you!

I run a website Tankstop.com and know all these guys well......I would never think of doing such a thing ever!...that is pure greed trying to dump a bunch of stock on you instead of just using common sense and making a call to you to clarify your order. If they had any sense at all, they would have sent you all females, or maybe one male in the group. Terrible!

Give me a try sometime.....I am the one doing all the customer service, packing, shipping etc.....no runaround!

Glad you have the option to return. That's so lucky!

I mean if you can't return them immediately to the warehouse, I would keep the one I want in the tank, one in the sump, and the others in buckets. How soon can they be returned? I am no anthius expert, but they shipped in one bag, could three or four survive the night in a bucket with some hiding spots thrown in?

Can you post pictures of the fish to confirm the sex?

I don’t have the option to return. I was more throwing it out there incase anyone knew if that was possible. Thier warehouse is 3 hours from me but I will gladly make the drive if it means saving the other 3 males. (I wanted one male and one of the others is doa.)

They were each in separate bags. I did keep one. Males are very territorial and will likely kill each other if put together.
