Hey guys

I just picked up a diamond goby at my local fish store today. Added him to the tank after drip acclimation around 5pm it is now 8:30 pm. During this process after dropping him I grabbed him by net.. while transferring him from bucket to DT he jumped out of the net as soon as he hit the water right onto the hardwood floor…. I picked him up and put him right in. Since being in there he is barely moving and seems stiff like.. he is not sitting the sand. When I first put him in there he was breathing really heavy now his breathing has slow down and seems normal I am not sure if maybe he is injured or if the fall may have damage him to much. I did try feeding the tank and he didn’t chase anything. So I used a turkey bastor and went close to him and he ate what went next to his mouth without moving.. any tips or insight would be appreciated !!

thank you in advance

Is he laying on it's side? I'm actually surprised that it is not hiding someplace. I would have expected him to seek shelter while acclimating to a new tank.

No he is laying upright just not moving which I know is normal for a watchman to sit still but not for hours . And didn’t move for food but ate it when it came next to it leading me to believe it may be injured

I thought he was on his side too, he looks a little awkward. I’ve had a lot of diamond gobies and they never looked like that.

I had the same experience with a watchman goby a month ago. Picked him up off the floor and threw him in the QT. After about a day he was back to normal, burying in the sand, eating, etc. I'll be taking him out of QT in about a week.

I would like to get a qt going again but I’m currently running my qt as my dt due to my previous dt shattering all over the floor due to too much rock weight. $10,000 just puddled and flopping and drying on my floor. One of the worste days of my life lol I loved all my coral and fish

Yeah, pretty scary. Not sure how much of his behavior was due to the trauma of falling on the floor versu the trauma of taking 3 days to arrive due to lousy Fed Ex service versus adjusting to the QT. After about a day, he starting moving around more normally.

I cannot imagine how bad that experience was.

I’m assuming for me it’s due to the fall… he was moving at the pet store and sifting sand.

Curious how he's doing now? I just had a similar experience with a trigger. I was acclimating him in the stryo box and he bit into the stryo and wouldn't let go. Left him there for an hour and wouldn't let go. Had to put my finger in to coax him loose, then he just went to the other side of the box. The next time I put the net in and once he was loose I scooped him up. He was laying on his side in the tank. Didn't think he would make it but after 48hrs he was swimming around like normal.
