Hey everyone,

Newbie here. ( well no entirely, just got back into reef keeping after awhile)

I am having issues with some brown/black algae. I can t get rid of it. I tried a peroxide dip ( 2:1 ratio) which took care of the green algae but didn t do anything to the other one.

My cleaning crew ( hermit and snails and urchin) are not touching this algae at all.

How can I get it out? I tried to brush it while doing a water change but no luck at all

The algae is mostly next to my green plate monti

I don't know if a dip would do enough. Ask them on the thread I posted as they know much more than I do.

I did but if it would be cyano, why did it survive the peroxide dip.

Unfortunately, I can't deep that rock again. It was too stressful on the corals.

I don't know if a dip would do enough. Ask them on the thread I posted as they know much more than I do.

Thanks for your help and sorry for the bad pics. Not so easy with a cell phone.

After doing more googling, I think you are both right about it being cyano. I never had to deal with it before. I had diatoms and GHA but not Cyano.

I will try the suggested treads.
