Just spent 3 hours doing a 10 gallon water change, scrubbing rock, cleaning filters, cleaning the sand bed and netting out as much as I see in floating debri. It's a little cloudy right now I will get more pictures tomorrow. I didn't scrub all the rocks like I did the rock on the left. But I did a little until I couldn't see anymore. The water got real cloudy.

You can also drain the tank to expose the rock and drop hydrogen peroxide mixed with water on the patches of algae. They will bubble and fizz. After 15-20 minutes, put the tank water back in. Over the next few days the algae will turn kinda gray colored and simply melt away.

And also, over the years I’ve noticed that turbos, urchins, etc. won’t touch it if it gets too long. Now that you knocked it back some, you should see your current clean up crew spring into action.

Phosphate 0 ppm, nitrate 0 ppm
I would first and foremost address these two parameters as you will be dealing with a lot more negative issues that just long hair algae such as cyano and Dino’s . These two parameters should never be allowed to zero out . That being said , while your fixing this you should cut back the time and intensity on your lights , manual removal and if you can’t find tuxedo urchins try Mexican turbo snails after you trim the long hair algae . I’m sure there are other urchins you can use as well .
