Need help with P.M. AP426 skimmer.

Never used this type before. Its always been venturi or needlewheel types. [My current skimmer is a JNS sk2]
I got AP426 + AP410 collector when I bought a used 75 RR Oceanic and wanna try it for fun.

Have a few dumb questions first.
So I guess the top port is where the water is pumped in. ?? [I have many small pumps to try]
And the bottom needs a gate valve of some sort to control the flow. ??

I couldn't find a picture of this skimmer.
But it has 2 limewood airstones and is the countercurrent type. [kinda oldschool]

If someone is familiar with these, any advice/help is welcome.
