So, when I read this, I tried to push down on my emergency overflow and I couldn’t get it to move. I lightly tapped on it with a rubber mallot and it did move down about 1/2 inch. There were some playing it before but not now. My overflow level looks like @commod0re in pic above. @Nan.roti shows a higher water level than mine in the overflow.You may want to:
Push down on your emergency pipe, hard, to ensure it is fully seated in the bulkhead. If you do this, and you still find that the emergency is too high, you can pull it out to trim 1-2 CM off the top.
Doing this will help with the protein buildup on the surface.
I’m getting good surface skimming action and I haven’t cut down my emergency overflow pipe. It does look a little high, but I think that is
by design. The water line in my display tank is about 1 1/2 inches from the top - does that sound about right? I’m using a COR 15 return pump running at 50%. I’m also using 2 MP40’s at 35% anti sync.
