I also like 5 or 6 best. However, I personally think the doughnut hole looks a little bit 'man made' sitting on top like a hoop. Maybe consider bringing it down and using it as a cave to add some front to back depth?

the left side looks too flat for my taste. I would add another small rock on top of that flat piece. Place it furthest away in the left corner. See what you think

Hi I'm in the process of setting up a JBJ 45 and was wondering if you had any tips on my scape. Some of the rocks I received from BRS are huge, so I'm considering breaking up some of the boulders.

I would like some suggestions. I'm trying to get my hands on more smaller rocks. I dont like big BOULDERS in my tank. There are 2 more that arent in there. I can take rock from my 36 and switch things around, because that will be anemones. But! I need some ideas. I'm a big LPS And softie fan.

I like that you are not stacking against the back wall (right?).
What is the height of your taller sections? You'll get some issues (coral stock depending) when you stack higher than say 3/5ths of the water level.

I am currently "fixing" that problem I made for myself. It is hard.

I should probably ask first if you plan to have a lot of SPS or not. If so, they need room to reach upward. I left them too little room and they don't do well at the waterline.

Second is visual. In my case, there is no seating near the tank. Standing, you cannot see the top third of the tank, right were all my beautiful expensive sticks are. When I take pictures (or just look at them) I have to take a knee.

My worst problem was flow -- but this was made worse because I stacked against the back wall. You have likely solved for that by clearing the back wall and taking the rock "islands" approach. Think about where your powerheads are going to go and position your islands accordingly so the water can move. Most powerheads need to be several inches below waterline else they vortex air in and cavitate.

All your scape ideas are visually quite nice. Just trying to give you some practical ideas to think about.

I wouldn't mind an outside perspective on my scape, I finally got it to where I was very happy last week but have not moved anything but my 2 clowns to this tank yet. I cut 5 inch pvc and made a U shape into them for little caves that I put on the sides of the overflow with rock on top to give some height in the back and some good hiding spots

This aquascape process is making me go in circles! Can the R2R community please help me out? Any and all comments/criticisms are requested...
I've been out of the hobby for 15 years and am trying to get this "right" the first time. There are so many opinions out there...and REAL knowledge.
This is a 50 gal cube (24"x24"x20"h) and I'm hoping for some softies, LPS primarily and probably a RBTA. Been planning on BB. The family has agreed on the following livestock so far: 1 or 2 clowns, 1 purple Firefish, 2-3 cardinals, Longnose Hawkfish, 1 blue/green chromi, others TBD. Hoping for 500gph+ from the return plus 2 variable Tunze nanostreams (250-1450gph/each).
I tried to create a minimized "canyon" feeling to the scape that provided good visual depth as well as lots of different possible coral locations, hiding places, swim throughs, etc. I still plan on adding small little rubble pieces to cover my primary cement work.

What do you think - I would appreciate your expertise and experience if you have time.
