If you need an outside perspective to help with improving your aquascape, just post here a few shots of your tank, and will try my best shot at providing specific advise according to your goals for the tank.

Sometimes I can just answer here, show the alterations using photoshop or make a video.

Just post here front shots with your cellphone/camera positioned at 3 different heights (sand level, centre and water level) and also a couple of angled photos, so that I can have a better understanding of your tank's layout.

This is a subject that is surprisingly not researched by most reefers and I have given some thought and some time ago I did a similar exercise in another forum.

It's also a great way for everyone to learn from each other and see a few freshwater techniques that we can apply and also many others that are specific for reef tanks.

In the meantime, if you want some inspiration here are a few videos I made with suggestions for different tank shapes.

This is brilliant.

I’ve always liked how my live rocks were set up but only up until recently have I considered getting coral since I’ve never had any experience with them before. I’m trying to figure out the best spots to add some. What do y’all think??

Have you considered moving the rocks a little further from the glass sides so that you can always get a magnet scraper in there?

Personally, I would love to see a little bit more variety in height, maybe one higher peak and one lower one... Maybe also consider separating into two islands so it doesn't look too much like a man made bridge?

Try the middle top rock on top of the left hand srructure. It will give differing height and two different type structures.

I have a new build its a peninsula style tank 60” long by 36” wide x 24” tall. Tank will be bare bottom and all sps corals. I don’t want the rock work higher than 12” and don’t want any rock within 6” all the way around

You need to consider the growth of full size colonies of your acro and how it will affect flows since peninsula style are limited for powerhead placement unless you want to add on the other end. If you add powerhead on the view side kinda defeat the purpose of peninsula(esthetically). Aim for minimal rocks, lower rock structure on the return size so it doesnt block flow when your acro grows

Thanks for the comment. Yes, agreed. Rock structure will only be 12” at maximum height and not within 6 inches from any perimeter

I have played with this quite a bit and I could live with this but I feel like it's missing something. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

72x30x24. Max height of structure is approximately 14" as seen by the ruler. Cardboard is approximate footprint of tank.

First time aquascaping a saltwater aquarium. Looking for some feedback. It is only a 10 gallon aquarium and I wound up deciding to go with the second option (there were many other variations as well).
