That is not a friend....it is a pest anemone known as an aiptasia. Kill it!

Its an Aptasia. You don't want these in your tank. Get a syringe. Inject either lemon juice or kalkwasser mixed into a thin paste and inject into center (core) and it will melt away.

@vetteguy53081 said it.....very good DIY ways to get rid of aiptasia. I've actually used lime juice because at the time we didn't have lemon juice. If you wish, they also make commercial products. The two that come to mind are Aiptasia X and F Aiptasia. The last method is purchasing animals that eat aiptasia....you mentioned one above. Others include certain filefish and certain butterflies. Note that some of these can be hit or miss....that is, they might not eat the aiptasia.
