No the polyps are soft (they retract).

Mine do that too. They don't retract all the way, but they look like the last pictures you posted when they are moved.

Cyphastrea Ocellina or Japonica . At least that would be my best guess.

The 24 tentacles on both those still lead me to think they're Goniopora sp. of some kind... the ridges around the coralites do not appear to be raised at all, where in Cyphastrea sp. they are at least somewhat. Definitely not your average Goniopora though, that's for sure...

Regardless, those are wicked Tom!

Thats what I was thinking with the tentacles. But I don't have a short tentacle goni to compare it to.

I think the last two are Goniopora's as well.

I was thinking the same thing, but the growth edge has me wondering since I don't have one personally.

I do know that my Cyphastrea doesn't have fully formed "polyps" like that on the growth rim, thats why I tend to think it is still a goni, like I thought from my first impression.

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?
