I have a wavepoint retro kit for 4 t5HO bulbs. It currently has the wave point stock bulbs in it. I have come to the realization that these bulbs are not up to snuff for the colors I want. I have done some serious googling and posting on other forums and for my color tastes, the ATI bulbs will be my choice. My question is, how long will the stock wavepoint t5HO bulbs last before i need to replace them. They are on for about 10 hours a day. I have had them since the begining of september.

Oh yea, hubby wants to know if anyone here has modded the fluval chi with different LEDs so that the tank could support corals, specifically Zoas.

Friend of mine uses wavepoint bulbs, says they peake @ 6-7 months.. You will like the ati's waaayyyy more:bigsmile:

so basically, come march, I will need to replace the wavepoint bulbs? I thought that T5HO bulbs should be good for a year before replacement. Does that mean the replacement time varies on manufacturer and the wave points arent the best and need to be done more often?

I generally start thinking about changing my bulbs at 8 to 10 months and do like 2 at a time so it isn't so bad on the pocket book and so the critters have a bit more time to acclimate to the new bulbs. I am not sure on the life of the Wavepoint's but I agree you will love the ATI's.

If the current bulbs don't give you the colors you want, I would go ahead and change them and save them as backups if something happens to the new bulbs.
