I guess my search skills suck here and on Google. I'm trying to see exactly how a reefmat 500 is placed in a reefer 300xl G2 sump. My lfs has offered me a deal on a reefmat but I want to make sure I don't have to mod anything in the sump to install it or I'll just look into a bubble magus filter roller. Any tips or suggestion are appreciated as well.

IIRC reefer g2 is a no mod install. Older Reefer & Reefer 's' models require cutting the sock or ato reservoir out
Thanks. Do you know if the sock chamber has to be removed or does the roller go in one of the other two chambers? In addition to mods I'm trying to see if I would have to give up my fuge also which I really don't want to do but could move it to another chamber depending on where the roller goes.

I have the 200XL G2 and it fits fine. Pretty sure the 300XL has a bigger sump.

The filter socks divider just slides right off with the G2 sumps. No mods needed.

They were designed specifically for the G2 models as a drop in option.
So remove the sock holder and they drop in where the sock holder was? That's the impression I get but I haven't been able to get 100% confirmation on that for a 300xl G2 so am hesitant. If that's the case it would be great and I wouldn't have to move anything else.

Here’s a old pic before I upgraded to the Nyos skimmer. My filter sock chamber (was) behind the Reefmat. You can't see it but i have chaeto in that area now.

Thanks. That looks exactly like my 170 sump so placing it in the sock chamber of the 300 should be no problem at all. Have you been happy with yours?

Yah drop in and watch your nutrient levels after it's active

Very happy with Reefmat. It’s built for the lazy reefer….perfect for me. 1 roll last me at least 3 months , often 4 months .
I'm a bit lazy as well. Socks don't get changed untill they are overflowing. Probably not a bad thing on my other tanks but this one is heavy sps frags that are starting to take off so I'm trying to stay on top of things. Thanks for your help

I put the 1200 in my Max S500, and had to gut the entire sump, as I hated the way RS suggested you do it, that sump was train wreck to start with, it’s really functional now. For my 250, petco was having their 50% sale, so it was easier and faster to just pull the original 11g (I think) sump out for a 20L. I’m only showing you this as, there are other ways to get it to fit.
