I recently had to leave town for 4 days. When I left my tank was stable no issues everything was happy and thriving. I had my SIL feeding the fish I made little vials of pellets that all she had to do was open one and dump it in. Well fast forward two days she calls me and tell me my inkbird alarm is going off. It was the low temp alarm she felt my heater said it was not working so I had her swap it out and all was fine temp slowly went back to normal. Now I have a camera on my tank so I can check in from anywhere as well as WiFi control over the ATO, Skimmer etc. I went to check and noticed some algae growth on the glass I assumed it’s just cause I wasn’t home to scrape it off using a mag float ( I removed it before leaving because my SIL can sometimes be a child and didn’t want her sliding it back and forth rushing the water because she’d of done that no doubt. I got home it was still pretty bad so I did a 20g water change. Also upon checking it appears she may have doses some reef roids to the tank without consulting me first. So I was hoping the water change would help with the algae but it seems to be getting worse. I scrap the glad and just a feed hours later it’s back. I will add she changed my lights for two days straight the all whites were on 24hrs around the clock. I don’t have remote control to change setting on them so that’s how they stayed till I got back. I’ll attach a video of the algae what is looks like being scraped off the glass it’s really fine and just
Dissipates in the water like a powder but idk what I can do. Any suggestions or help would be great my BTA seems a little unhappy with all of it. I’ve tried to increase flow using my gyre and single powerheads and turning up my return pump as well

I don't know what a SIL is but there is no reason to ever touch the lights, and not just changing the color to all white but setting it for 24 hours, that is weird I don't know how that can happen, most lights are controlled by apps. Going forward IMO you should get yourself an eheim auto feeder for $40, they are super reliable and mine are 5 years old and still going. That way you won't need to rely on SIL again.

There is no video attached, but in my experience, its rather normal to come back to a little algae. It happens after a few days of dumping pellets into the tank. Usually I just get the nutrients back in line and after about a month the algae recedes and the tank is back to normal.

Sorry unsure why it didn’t attach
SIL - sister in law

They were on for a little over 48hrs straight. She said she couldn’t see or something when I called and asked her when I got back
