need some help with a plug from my skimmer

OKay I was sitting at my desk and kept hearing my skmmer kick on/off so i wnt to check the plug and i could smell rubber was burning so i turned it all off and unplugged everything ,I had it plugged into a power strip box called a mr DJPSC300 8 port ,i had alot stuff plugged in to the unit thinking that it can handle up to 8 different devices.What could of casued this ,Is it the Reef octopus Skimmer or is it the power unit I couldnt pull the skimmer plug out of the power strip for some reason,not sure if it melted and was like welded together but finally i was able to pull it out with the insert part of the power strip. attached are some pics,

You had a loose connection, from the looks of it it was in your power box. You'll need to replace your cord end and I would completely replace your power box with something new.

So i can cut off and splice a new end on the skimmer and throw out that box. Im assuming it wasnt to much on the box load that is

Yes cut it off and get a replacement end. To fully know what the cause was I'd have to know the maximum that the box could handle, and the draw of each individual item that was plugged into it.

this is what i had and apperently it cant handle all my stuff but been using it for 2 months

Mag 18 pump
430 ice ballast running 2 48 long vho
3 powerheads

that was all that was running on it at 1 time

I think you just had a loose connection inside the powerbar. It should handle 550w at least.....

Think the white wire was loose insude the box..so if I fix this its probabky still ok to use

Yea, just solder that wire back on, your good to go. Not for nothing here, and no offense if you did it, but I'd rewire that whole box, thats scary wiring.
