Hey, so I’m a few months into my tank and have had some issues with parasites and what not so I am currently in a fallow. However everything seems to be stable for the most part minus one thing. My leather coral used to look amazing. Sure it would molt every now and again but for the most part it looked healthy. However about a week ago it began molting and hasn’t stopped. It looks pretty awful and I’m not sure if this is just molting or something worse. And advice?

I would get more flow on it to blow the shed off. I ussually help mine along by blowing it off with a baster. Mine will spending months shedding. As it gets larger it sheds more often and they last longer. Its always larger after a shed but i think its spends more time shedding than not lol.

I agree to give it more flow, leathers love flow. It looks like a build up of detritus that it is not able to shed off. You can use a turkey baster to blow it off but ultimately it seems to want more water movement.

Thank you a bunch. I’ll blow off the gunk with my baister. I don’t have to much flow in my tank but I have a wave maker on the way so that will be fixed.

So it’s been a while since this post and I put more flow on my leather, and it began to improve a bit, but these past few days he’s back to where it was. However I noticed a little aptasia. Could this be the reason he’s slumping and always shedding?

You'll want to nab that aptasia before it spreads, but I doubt there is a connection... meaning I doubt at all it's affecting your Leather.
