I just bought an old tank that has a mirror for the back panel. It is half peeled off and I need to get the remainder off. It has a plastic like protective coating over the silver. Scraping it isn't the way. Right now, I'm open for suggestions.

Soaking it in water got half of it off but it took twenty years. :angel:
Anyway, laquer thinner takes off the protective paint but it is a mess and slow. I ended up scraping it off with a razor blade (actually several of them). Then to get the silver off, I used The Works toilet bowl cleaner.
Now I have to decide whether to paint it black or aqua blue...
