Hey All,

i have an old SWC 160 Skimmer, the needle wheel impeller cracked and it will no longer pump. After many many years of service, this is the ONLY problem I have ever had with this skimmer.

I searched a bit and couldn’t find a definitive direct replacement pump and don’t want to do any modifications.

So I decided to just purchase a new skimmer.

The SWC was extremely highly recommended back when I bought it. It worked leaos and bounds bettervthan the Coralife skimmer I had before.

i’m hoping to get some feedback on current model skimmers? I don’t have $500+ to spend. Infact, I’d like to keep it under $400, but the less the better, but also not looking to buy a point of sale.

I have a 90g reef w/~40g sump/refugium.

Thanks in advance

Wow, that thing looks space age!

You currently have one? Works really well?

Says it has overflow protection?

Looks pretty cool!

I do not have one - but I know someone with one - and I plan to buy one shortly to replace my 15 year old one:)

I had a swc150 back in the day on my 100g good skimmer. I went to a reef octopus int-150 “regular” and found it to be pretty equal performance wise and slightly more reliable/consistent. That would be a good low budget option.
But if you have the cash the regal int-150 would be better

I would suggest something like the bubble magus curve 7 or curve 9 ( depending on your Bioload )
