Hello All,

I am new here and a new saltwater tank owner. I started my tank on 8th September 2019, First there was Diatoms its gone, now there is Bright Green Algae on sand bed. I tried looking up on internet but i can get enough information about what exactly it is. Can you guys please shed light on it:

I have placed 10 Gram GFO yesterday to reduce phosphates, I have carbon bag, protein skimmer, Normal Filter and some bio rings. 4 Damsels in it. I only use RO/DI water. Last 30% water change was on 28/10/2019.

So far i can see the Phosphates is the culprit but i am confused if there is any other case which i am missing. Also please take a look at live rocks. When i was changing water on 28/Oct I removed green algae while siphoning it came again.

Size 20 Gallon

Test Parameters As of Today:
Ph: 8.2
Alkalinity: 10
Phosphates: .25-.5ppm
Salinity: 1.023
Temperature: 25-26'C
Calcium : Unknown
Magnesium : Unknown
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Nitrates: 0 ppm

Howdy

Green cyano is my guess also. More flow to those areas. Less light, more blue instead of white as said above. Keep siphoning it out. New tank.....It will go away with time as long as you keep your nutrients in check. Right now it is taking advantage of not having anything to compete with it.

Guys... The Green Cyano is now completely gone.... But there is some brown Hair Algae showing up and its growing very fast. But its growing on 1 Rock only, rest is clear with very small patches of brown algae here and there.

Can anyone tell me what exactly how to get rid of it and what it is called.
