Nephthea tree leather wound?

Hey guys! I have this nephthea tree leather that's attached to a small rock. I noticed this brown wound looking spot on its trunk. Any ideas as to what it could be? Pic is below. TIA!

I don't know but I would cut it above the rotting part to save the healthy part

Very healthy actually! Opens up fully when lights are on. It doubles in size.
