Does the optical sensor have to be one way or another up?

Mine is slightly diagonal at the bottom of my 55 gallon drum, I can't really position it perfectly as well I can't get my hand down there.

It keeps throwing false positives.

Tip of pyramid needs to be up. Doesn't need to be perfect, but maybe 20 degrees off at most.

If this is located where it's not easy to access, you might want to consider a float switch instead. The optical sensors require regular cleaning. The ones in my sump need to be brushed off about once a month or two.
