If you have it, why not install it and see? It is not difficult to setup and therefor remove if you don't like it.

We all have different experiences so not sure if my $0.02 is worth it. I mean yes, it works based on my installation to date. I also have used a float valve and gravity with equal success. I am pretty sure if I switch to a Tunze Osmolator 3 ATO that would also work.

I use Neptunes because that is the ecosystem I use /shrug

I like the Neptune ATK. I used to hate it but I have learned how to use it and appreciate the float valve failsafe. I like that I can check the status and operate it manually from apex app and combined with extra optical sensors for the ATO resouir for a low volume to shut the pump off and an email notification to refill helps not burn the pump up. A swell as if it ever gets stuck on the float valve manually blocks the water from entering into the system reducing the risk of overflow. I also have a LLS which I like that also gives me a visual graphed indicator that the tanks water level is staying stable and everything is operating properly.

I gotcha. Their is some programming hat you can do that can reduce that risk. Such as only on for x anmount of time and then off. That would shut the switch to off and you would have to manually turn it back on to auto. Also you can add another optical eye to a higher point in the sump as your extra backup above the float switch that would trigger the ATO pump to turn off. Make sure to use the siphon break. I also like the LLS which can be programmed as another safety measure lol. With that said I ran a tunze ATO as well and you technically can configure it with some of the safety features just imo not as seamless.

No, that would be bad. Something we all have to remember is that often times we do not get the closure or root cause. The ATK has some safety built in but the human factor can be a challenge to prevent. Any device or controller we have to try and think of ways we can alert us when this happen.

Salinity change, ATO volume, on/off times, etc.

Yea all this new technology is a pain in the butt to me

Slow wins the day. If you do set it up you can always use a HD/Lowes/Salt bucket to test before using the larger storage container. Do not mean to state what you already know but just what I do. ATO, auto water changes, dosing, etc.
