I’m wondering if you could get away with a single Nero 3 in a 40 breeder? It’s lps/softies tank. I just want a gentle flow I don’t really like when everything looks like it’s thrashing around.

You get definitely get away with one nero 3 for this size tank. It will provide more than enough flow. You just have to find the sweet spot in positioning it to provide the right flow throughout

Maybe, but I would recommend two, one on each end if you can.

I have a 40g Breeder housing BTA's and one Magnifica (that hates flow) and I have two Nero 3's pointed at each other on the short ends of the tank. They are on random from 15% to 35% and it creates very gentle and random flow.

You got a picture of your tank?

Out of curiosity do you place one high and one low?
I originally had a Nero 3 and an Orbit 2 in my 40 gallon breeder and realized it was too much for my torches and Gonis. Was thinking of placing on the back left side more on the lower side and another Nero 3 on the right higher up.
