My husband and I have been out of the saltwater hobby about 6 years. We have had many tanks over the 25 years of our hobby. Since we have downsized our tank selection to a Biocube 32. What is your suggestion for a power head and where to purchase? We have had an Ecotech VorTech MP40 and loved it. We are looking into Nero 3 this go around.

I ran 2 of them on opposite sides in my old 10 gallon cube. Great wavemakers and easy to clean. Of course I didn’t run them really high, but 2 really compliment each other when it comes to eliminating dead spots.

I have 3 nero 3s (two in my reef tank, one in one of my wife’s freshwater tanks) and they’re good pumps. Can be temperamental at times if they get gunked in certain ways, and also the included nem guard is both ineffective and also takes away your ability to aim it, but overall it works well and has some nice modes that can help make good chaotic flow and even set up a daily schedule of changes

btw I would suggest trying both MyAI and Mobius apps with it and use whichever one you like better. I think Mobius is slightly better, seems less crashy and the UI is a bit better but some people prefer MyAI instead

There are also some good 3D-printable guards that are much better than the stock one

I have the Nero 3 in my 15 gallon and my 20 gallon. I love having them in my tanks. They work really well, plus I have options to change the speed and flow. The app is easy to use and setup.
