I have a wandering anemone so I used to cover my wavemakers with a mesh media bag which were really too big and bulky . Then I remembered I had this thread spool netting and tried it. It works great. Like the mesh bag, you have to shake/blow detritis off it but it's a lot finer than mesh, easy and cheap and one batch will probably last a lifetime or 2 or 3....

I almost got rid of it as I don't like it on the spools--too hard to really see colors or most of my embroidery spools of thread are not really fat enough. So glad I kept it.

Here is the link http://amzn.to/2ns063X

This is what it looks like before used and in my tank. It's a flat tube that stretches out. I just rubber band to the cord and leave plenty of length

Anyway, a lot easier than trying to build cages out of various other materials Wish it came in black though

@Susan Edwards is this thread still going strong for you? Any negative factors you can see , considering that you've experienced the process close to 1 year now?

@potatocouch this netting will last forever... I wash and dry it with regular laundry. It does get algae in it and in fact will even act like an algae scrubber. I reread my op and you don't even need to rubberband. Just slid the end to the back of the wavemaker/powerhead (magnet) and let the 2 magnets trap the ends. It's a wrap for a spool of thread to keep thread from unraveling but is not thread itself. It does the job. Right now my anemone is in qt as it is not well so I took them off. If the anemone recovers, they'll go back on.

my new build, the eflux wavemakers came with foam filters but if I had an anemone for that tank, I'd still use this as the foam filter won't stop anything entering from front when the wm's pulse.
