Not sure which Roller do you have but I am pretty sure you could still remove the spent media. Like others had mentioned, you need to minimize/eliminate the source of the odor. Once it is in the room, will be harder to remove.

I have the Reefmat. smell isn't too bad if i open my cabinet doors and give some air to the sump along with the window open every couple of days. Going to use the entire roll. The roll is going on its 3rd month, and should be spent by next month. I think we have gotten used to the smell lol
