Never give up on a coral...

Years ago I had a colony of tricolor valida RTN that was upwards of 15" from one side tot he other. Too big to pull out so figured it was just live rock but after a year I ended up having so many small colonies growing out of it I was breaking them off and selling them almost monthly.

I had the same thing happen to a tiny remnant of Rainbow Monti. White, dead, covered in algae. Over 4 months I noticed a few orange polyps crop up and now it is a growing frag the size of a quarter and colorful as ever!

My Plate coral perished a couple of months ago and instead of tossing it I just moved it to the back of the tank out of sight and thought nothing of it. A couple of weeks ago I'm working in the tank and notice new growth on the Plate coral. From what I've heard and read Plate corals can grow babies and this is what it looks like is happening to the this coral.

This is the start, within a week it was gone and just a skeleton.

Babies on board!
