So I miss my 40g breeder so I’m bringing it back! I started with the stand it’s going to be a peninsula. I need some input ! Do you guys think the structure will hold up keeping my canopy up in time or do I need more bracing?

Well I may have messed up big time. I got to messing with my router so I ended up cutting off a bit off the front posts? Is this going to compromise the strength of the posts?

Look forward to the build!

You did quite a number with that router. lol. I have made plenty of router mistakes so don't feel bad.

This will be the only time you have to make it right, so I would replace those. I think they would probably hold, but you will sleep better at night if you fix it now.

Haven’t a lot of thoughts 1st should I remain at a 40g breeder all in one or to drill it.... then I had a thought why not make a 75g all in one[emoji848]

Welp a lot has changed but I am happy with it

My only concern is the weight of the canopy of the tank?
My second plan was to add a structure around the tank that would hold the weight of the canopy?

yeah that is a bit of weight on the tank. maybe someone with more experience in that area will chime in. if you have not yet I would post in the DIY forum. tons of helpful peeps there.

now what I can say in the tank looks so much better with out the 2x4 supporting the canopy.
have you thought about a floating canopy?I am guessing you want one to help keep the glare of the light from spilling in to the room?
just a thought.

that is a lot of wood for a small-ish tank I think having it floating IMHO would give it a more "clean and modern" feel. you still could have you controller closet where it is. of course if you float it then you have to mount in to the wall or ceiling and the has its own set of challenges.

love the 40BR BTW I think there amazing big little tanks!

Great job !!! That stand is solid. Probably the stand will weight more than the 40g full with rocks...LOL. I like the support for the canopy around the tank. Following>>>

Came up with the idea to install dowels to lock into the back cabinet to reduce stress since the back supports are not connected to each other. Got all the doors done on the front! My God are making doors a pain !

Next step is finish doors then drill the tank and install overflow box!

Will all aquarium safe silicone work for attaching it to the glass?
