So I’ve been in this hobby for over 15 years but have never had a tank over 50 gallons. Ends up all I had to do was suggest setting up a frag tank in our bedroom and my wife was suddenly encouraging me to upgrade my tank!
Since I’ve had a 24”x24” cube for most of my time in this hobby, I was originally looking to keep the cube style, but realized lighting a 36x36 would be tricky as well as difficult access.
I ended up ordering a custom built Visio tank measuring 40x30x20. Comes out to just about 100gallons. I didn’t want the work of maintaining a huge tank, so this really was the perfect size for me.
Built the stand myself waiting for tank to arrive. Designed it in sketch up first.
Then finished it off with maple ply.
Then got the plumbing finished up. Stuck the handle for my gate valve out the back of my stand so I can adjust the flow while watching the water level in the overflow box.
Finally ready to swap tanks!!
