Just finished my cycle after 7 weeks. Added my first 2 clownfish yesterday, and have a clean up crew that will be here on Wednesday. Will the CUC take care of all this green algae?!?! Or do I need to do something else? I keep reading green algae is good.

Welcome to R2R!! I'm still new so I can't really give much advice yet. Luckily, there are lots of people here who know pretty much everything there is to know so you should get some really helpful information shortly. :)

I’m assuming maybe this is part of the “ugly” phase LOL! My snails will have plenty of food!

My ugly phase was an intense diatom (brown) bloom, that was followed by a spike in green algae. It went away on its own, with the help of some voracious Astrea snails and a Molly. I assume you already went through the brown phase, so hopefully this passes quickly.

Yes I went through a very intense brown phase weeks 2-4, then it all changed to green. So happy to hear maybe I’m on the right track!

Welcome to R2R! You're on your way! CuC will help with a lot of the algae! If you don't mind me asking how big is your tank and what was the size of your cuc? Depending on the algae you might have to adjust the crew or size.

Welcome to Reef2Reef! Unless that's Cyanobacteria(not 100% from the pic) Algae is part of your system maturing, and is only a problem if you can't control it once your CUC gets there or if it persists well into your systems "maturity", then something is wrong. But for now just expect your clean up to have food on arrival (:

I have a 225g system. I started by ordering a 50g package from Reef Cleaners. I didn’t want to get too many and them starve. I figured I would buy more if needed.

hi welcome to the reef going to love it here!!
lots of fun/info/fun/help/fun....
