Hello everyone. At the suggestion of a friendly fellow Michigan reefer, I thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Jeff (hence the clever screen name) and I am from Madison Heights, MI. I have only been reefing for about 4 years and for the last 6 months or so I have been trying to step up to a new level.
I fell in love with the pursuit of beautiful corals and quickly realized that zoas were my favorite. I think my favorite part is starting with a small frag and watching it morph and grow into something amazing.
I am really excited to find a site like club-zoa.com and some fellow reefers that share my passion. I hope to contribute and help this site grow while I hopefully grow as a reefer as well.
I look forward to joining this community and sharing, talking, trading, and obsessing about zoas.
Thanks, Jeff

Welcome Jeff... :)

Hello.
I just joined.
My name is Scott, I live in Kingston, Ohio and I am a "Zoaholic". :)

I've been into reefing for about 2 years. Zoas were my first coral after my cycle. Beautiful little things!

Still reading everything I can about them.

I'll get pics ASAP.
I've just started to collect the more vibrant color ones so the pics probably won't be as good as some of the ones I've already seen on this site. But, I'm getting there.

Hello

I had some trouble finding the welcome page, I guess I have to RTFM. Hello all, I'm Mike, I am a zooaholic. Whenever I close my eyes I see zoas, its the first thing I think of when I wake up and the last thing I think of when I go to bed. J/K =)

I'm 25 and getting older. I'm located in San Diego, CA. I've been reefing for about 2 years. I think I have caught the zoa bug when I was in the process of turning my softy tank into SPS. I figured I could trade some nice zoas for SPS, but I came across a couple of zoas that I fell in love with and from then on, I couldn't stop...occasionally I'd try to stop...but Da2d2003 keeps peddling my zoa addiction...=P So I ended up here...I like it here so I've decided to stay.

Intro

This site is awesome! I'm from the beautiful Bay Area in N.Cal in a small city called Hercules. Hercules! Hercules! Hercules! Hahaha

I have been in this side of the hobby, the salty side, for about 2 years. I grew up starting with fresh water, you know Oscars, Cichlids, Arowana, etc.

I started off with a 100 gallon mixed reef and after a year downsized to a 55 gallon. I just didn't have the time for all the maintenance at the time and my initial setup wasn't set up the way I wanted it. So after a few months I couldn't pass up a deal for a 80 gallon starfire tank, 32 x 24 x 24, from a local reefer. I have been setting it up for the last 3 months and finally just aquascaped it and it is still cycling. I'll post pics soon. I really don't want to show pics of the 55 g as it is not pic worthy. Basically just holding my prize possessions.

Thats it for now

This has probably been asked a hundred times, but...

Are the zoas in your avatars your zoas?
Do you have someone to make the avatars or do you do them yourselves?

They are usually a zoa in your possesion, but if you ask somebody might have a picture you could use....I think The Rev made most of them.....Welcome to Club-zoa.com glad to have you here.

I'm so glad I found this site.

I'm David and I live in San Diego. My oldest reef tank is about 10 years old. I went from a back yard koi pond straight to a reef tank. Genius. :D

I did lots of reading and just dove in. Instead of burning out after a little while, I'm crazier about my hobby now than ever. There is always new stuff to learn about and discover. I just recently started to trade corals (zoos mostly) because I didn't know that people did such a thing. I'd always just bought stuff. I attended my 1st fragswap locally about 2 months ago. What a hoot. A great way to make room in a tank.

It's just nice to have a venue like this (and my local sdreefs) to meet folks that are interested in the same stuff. My wife calls you folks my support group.

Just wanted to say hi to all the new members! If you want to give us some insight into how you got into this hobby, zoas, or found this website then this is the perfect place to do it. :D

Thanks for joining us,

Luciano

Hello everyone! My name is Ken and I've had a reef tank for over 3 years now up here in Minnesota. I currently have a 75G and a 12G Aquapod. Jeremiah really got me started with the whole coral bit. He set me up with a few frags and the rest is history. Zoa's are my favorite and it seems like I learn more about them everyday.

I look forward to chatting with all of you and maybe doing a trade or two.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the info kpax and welcome to the club. Stick around and I'm sure you'll find some info and some nice zoas to add to yoru collection.

I hadn't noticed this thread before...

I'm Carole... about a yr and a half ago I received my first tank (65 gallon) for my birthday... then about 6 months later I was so into the hobby that I purchased a second tank (46 gallons). Now I'm trying to convince my sig. other to let me upgrade to a 220 gallon this January at which time I'll combine these two tanks... and hopefully also get a nano for seahorses.

I've got quite a few corals in my 65 gallon ( Frogspawns, hammers, leathers, and zoos ) ..and had intended for the 46 gallon to be a zoo tank..although still having issues with it...taking suggestions here and slowly raising the salinity.

Anyway, I was up at RobsReef our LFS so much, that he and another guy asked me if I wanted to start a website for selling corals with them, as I'm a web designer, so a few months ago I also did that...which has gotten me even more into Zoos. Heh..after spending hours on end cropping photos of zoos and making thumbnails of them...I end up wanting to buy half of them ;)

Once I finally get my 46 gallon to not kill zoos, or upgrade to my 220 tank (whichever is first) I plan on greatly expanding my zoo collection... although I am still growing it slowly in my 65 in the meantime!
