Hey everyone, just got my anthias in today from a pre-QT'd vendor. They look good and were out swimming all day. I didn't drip acclimate them at all since they were shipped at 1.025 which is what my tank is at. Just temp acclimated then netted them out. Fed them twice so far and from what I could tell everyone ate. Ever since the lights have started dimming, they all starting laying on the sand tucked into the rock work. Is this normal? Obviously I know fish are going to sleep, but the laying on the sand concerns me.. These are lyretail anthias.

Anthias will sleep in really odd positions. Mine will sometimes sleep upside down in the rocks. Probably what yours are doing.

Thank you. Just wondering if you notice this as well, does the male stay out longer? My lights start dimming at 5 and ever since then the females started disappearing 1 by 1 into the rocks, while the male was out patrolling until lights off at 7. Looking into the tank at dark as well he is the most active in the rocks.

Okay so this morning the male is out, rest of the females are still hiding. When I dumped in mysis everyone came out to eat, then back into hiding (besides the male). How long does it usually take them to get settled and always be out?

Eh, depends. Mine like the cover of the rocks. They will swim around but then dart back into the rocks. Feeding they always come out. Yours are still new so they need time to acclimate to the tank.
